Abstract

How can researchers and practitioners in education usefully understand technology, education, and their relationship to improve teaching practice? In this volume, Jon Dron articulates a new theory that treats education as a technological phenomenon. He uses this theory to reframe popular families of educational theory and explain a variety of educational phenomena, including the failure of learning style theories, literacies, the prevalence of cheating, and the fundamental differences between online and in-person learning. This timely volume encourages anyone in an educational system, from university presidents to teachers to researchers to learning designers to students to see what they do in a different and, hopefully, more productive and creative way.
